The President of Slovenia Borut Pahor will be paying an official visit to the Republic of Moldova on October 1 and 2, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu, IPN reports.
In accordance with the program of the visit that was made public by the Moldovan presidential administration, the Slovenian official will be met with military honors. He will later have a meeting with President Maia Sandu, in the presence of the delegations of the two sides. On Friday, Borut Pahor will meet with Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and a group of students from Chisinau. Towards the end of the visit, the two heads of state will plan by a tree in the Botanical Garden in Chisinau.
Borut Pahor and Maia Sandu will also make statements for the press and will lay flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy.
The state of Slovenia was created in 1945 as part of federal Yugoslavia. Slovenia gained its independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. Slovenia has been a NATO and EU member state since 2004. In 2019, the population of Slovenia was 2.081 million.
