The motion of censure initiated by the Socialist Party against the Maia Sandu government at an essential moment for justice reform is directed against the medium and long-term interests of the Republic of Moldova and its citizens. The statement belongs to the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, regarding the situation in the Republic of Moldova.
According to the statement issued by the Romanian president, which was transmitted by the Romanian ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ioniță, in the current context, the support of Romania, including the financial support, will continue to target the interests of the citizens of Moldova. This support will be strictly conditioned by the continuation of essential reforms for the democratic development of Moldova and the advancement of its European path.
The Romanian president said that, over the course of five month since being appointed to office, the government led by Maia Sandu has made important progress in implementing the reforms needed in order to strengthen relations with the European Union. The values of democracy, the rule of law, the fight against corruption, ensuring the independence of justice in both the economic and social fields and reforms aimed at increasing prosperity and security levels for the citizens of Moldova were promoted.
Moreover, according to Klaus Iohannis, the Sandu government has managed to regain the confidence of development partners, especially of the European Union, which was an essential premise for the resumption of international political and financial support for the Republic of Moldova. "Romania has strongly supported the efforts of the Moldovan government, given the clear and resolute commitment of the government coalition for the European path and for the advancement of bilateral strategic partnership for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova", the Romanian president said.
