President nominates candidate for Audiovisual Council member

President Maia Sandu on November 22 proposed journalist Ruslan Mihalevschi for the post of member of the Audiovisual Council on behalf of the presidential administration. The Parliament’s commission for culture, education, reserve and the media is to examine the relevant approach, IPN reports.

Ruslan Mihalevschi is the editor-in-chief of the Bălți newspaper “SP” where he has worked for about 20 years. He has also cooperated with national journalistic organizations as a media expert and took part in a number of studies of the state of the press in Moldova, including in the Transnistrian region.

Last week, the Government nominated its candidate for Audiovisual Council member. This is Liliana Vițu, who is an expert in journalism and communication sciences.

The Audiovisual Council has seven members: three nominated by parliamentary groups, one by the President, one by the Government, and two by civil society organizations. The candidacies are examined and confirmed by Parliament.
