President Maia Sandu met by Klaus Iohannis at Cotroceni Palace

President Maia Sandu was met at the Cotroceni Palace by her Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis. She is paying a visit at the invitation of the President of Romania in connection with the celebration in 2021 of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states, IPN reports.

After the official welcoming ceremony and discussions involving the delegations, the two leaders will give a joint news conference. Also, President Maia Sandu will have meetings with the interim Prime Minister of Romania Florin Cîțu, president of the Senate Anca Dana Dragu and interim president of the Chamber of Deputies Sorin Mihai Grindeanu.

On her visit to Bucharest, President Sandu is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Euroean Integration; Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development; Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan; Minister of Education Anatolie Topală; Moldova’s ambassador designate to Romania Victor Chirilă; secretary general of the presidential executive office Cristina Gherasimov, and adviser on public communication Sorina Ștefârță.

A roadmap on the priorities in the Republic of Moldova – Romania cooperation and an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Romania on the mutual recognition of scientific titles, diplomas and certificates are to be signed during the visit.

“The visit is a very good occasion for reconfirming the special, privileged relations of Strategic Partnership for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, based on the common language, culture and history, offering simultaneously the occasion for assessing the implementation level of the decisions agreed during the previous meetings of the Presidents, of December 29, 2020 and August 27, 2021 in Chisinau and of April 20, 2021 in Bucharest,” said the Presidential Administration of Romania.
