President Maia Sandu's visions converge with the visions held by the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, regarding the development of the state. This is the first reason that prompted the Polish president to visit Chișinău and join his counterparts from other countries at the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of Moldova.
During a joint press briefing with Maia Sandu, the Polish president said that the second reason was his hope that Moldova could join the "Three Seas Initiative" in the near future. (Editor's note: "Three Seas Initiative" is a political platform of EU member countries from Central and Eastern Europe, which currently includes 12 states. The express aim of the "Initiative" is to stimulate cooperation in the region, accelerate infrastructure modernization processes and strengthen energy independence).
The Polish president said that his country's 30-year experience of reform could help Moldovans, not only in terms of adopting institutional practices, but also in understanding what it means to cleanse the country of corruption and other burdens of former regimes, in order to build an honest country. There is a large Polish community in Moldova, which should enjoy all the freedoms and rights of the European community in their country of residence, the president stressed.
In turn, Maia Sandu said that Moldova values the development of bilateral relations between the two countries and Poland's contribution to the European modernization of our country. Maia Sandu appreciated Poland's role in the "Eastern Partnership" and its openness towards Moldova and its participation in various national and European programs. The head of state also mentioned Polish Aid and the cooperation with other Polish organizations which are developing numerous projects in Moldova.
The development expertise of Poland is particularly useful for our country. We want to learn from Poland's good practices in the field of regional development and agriculture, tax administration and digitalization of public services. We discussed today possible concrete cooperation projects in these areas.
"We have a good potential for cooperation in the field of agricultural modernization and concerning the exchange of best practices between local public authorities from Moldova and Poland. I am sure that with a stable government, which enjoys the support of the citizens, we will be able to make full use of these opportunities", said Maia Sandu.
Maia Sandu was in favor of connecting Moldova to other regional arrangements, which would help strengthen security and stability in the countries of the region.
