Slightly over half of the respondents of a poll said they trust most President Igor Dodon. This is followed by the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” with 19.7% and head of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” with 5.3%. Other politicians, among whom Pavel Filip, Renato Usatyi and Vlad Plahotniuc, gained less than 5%, shows the sociological survey “Vox Populi, April 2017” that was carried out by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova, IPN reports.

The poll reveals that if parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, 54% of those polled would definitely go and vote. 29% said they would probably cast their ballots. 7% said they would not vote, 4% are sure they would not take part in elections, while 6% said they hadn’t decided yet.

If legislative elections were held next Sunday, 22% or each fifth interviewed person would not know who to vote for, while 6% would not take part in elections. Consequently, each fourth person would be unable to make a reasonable choice. Some 37.4% of those polled are ready to vote for the Party of Socialists, 13.3% for the Party “Action and Solidarity”, 6.8% for the Democratic Party, 4.4% for the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, while less than 4% for other parties or independent candidates.

45% of those surveyed consider a referendum to annul the law that converts the emergency loans provided by the central bank to the three liquidated banks into state debt should be held. 17% of the respondents have a differing opinion, while 37% could not pronounce on the issue.

The study shows 35% of those interviewed would vote for joining the European Union in an eventual referendum on Moldova’s development direction, while 42% for joining the Eurasian Economic Union. 23% of the respondents could not say clearly how they would vote.

The survey was conducted between March 22 and April 5 and covered a sample of 1,189 adult persons from 77 communities, without the Transnistrian region. The margin of sampling error is 3%.
