If one of the main competitors is eliminated from the electoral race before the February 24 elections, the elections can be considered illegitimate, President Igor Dodon referred to the Party of Socialists, the electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS and the Democratic Party, IPN reports.

“Surely, the Democrats will not remove themselves from the race. Theoretically, either the PSRM or the bloc ACUM can be eliminated. If one of these two contestants is eliminated, no matter which of them, I will consider the elections illegitimate and will call on the people and the foreign partners not to recognize them,” Igor Dodon stated in a live discussion with people on Accent TV channel.

According to him, in such a situation the people should take to the streets. If one of the two competitors is removed, the elections will be recognized neither by the West nor by the East.

As regards the statements made by the leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor two days ago, concerning the fact that Igor Dodon threatened his family and exerted pressure on him, President Dodon said he will not react as such assertions were made by order of someone, alluding to the Democratic leader Vladimir Plahotniuc.

“This is a concrete politician who was ordered to attack the President in the hope that the Socialists’ rating will decrease. This is the purpose for which such a step was taken. That’s why this does not deserve to be paid attention. Such provocations will be yet witnessed,” stated President Dodon.

In a news conference on February 4, Ilan Shor said the President of Moldova Igor Dodon threatened his family and exerted pressure on him. He noted he will not yield and will make ‘spicy revelations’ about Igor Dodon if need be.
