President confirms Moldova's commitment to EU accession program

Meeting with European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso today in Chisinau, Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti confirmed the commitment of the Moldovans to the path of seeking accession to the European Union, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I have reconfirmed our intention to fulfill the EU accession program. This is a message that we are eager to gain membership of the European Union”, Nicolae Timofti told reporters after the meeting. Jose Manuel Barroso, for his part, stated that the common priorities are the visa liberalization, the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Moldova. “It has been a pleasure to meet with Nicolae Timofti once more, this time in the Moldovan capital. We first met in Brussels, where we had a substantial exchange of views”, said the European Official. Barroso went on to state that his visit is a signal of friendship, of support and encouragement for the Moldovan authorities to continue reforms on their path towards European integration. Jose Manuel Barroso is visiting Moldova for the first time, on the invitation of Prime Minister Vlad Filat. Later today they will both travel to Armenia to attend the 2nd Eastern Partnership Summit of the European People's Party
