The voting in of a new Government is the only option for continuing Moldova’s European course. We need counselling and stability, President Nicolae Timofti said in his speech in Parliament on Thursday. He urged the MPs to show political wisdom, IPN reports.
“In this period, it is very important to find solutions to the created situation. One year and three months ago, the MPs brought the crisis to an end by electing the President. But a new political crisis arose several months ago,” said the head of state.
Nicolae Timofti stated that reforms for the people’s welfare were implemented and good laws were adopted over the last three years. But the people haven’t yet felt reforms’ effects. That’s why the lawmakers should make effort for this to happen.
“It would be wrong to perpetuate the crisis because of personal interests. The people and the state institutions are waiting for signs of encouragement and calmness. I call on you to show political wisdom. We need stability, especially this year when the relation between Moldova and the European Union can be strengthened by signing a number of agreements at the Summit in Vilnius,” stated Nicolae Timofti.
He also said that the early elections must be avoided at any cost because they will endanger the process of modernizing the country.
