It is absolutely obvious that there is a direct link between the July 26 voting of the Balti Municipal Council and the Premier’s decision to take the Cabinet’s meeting on Wednesday to Balti, thinks Anatol Taranu, head of the Strategic Researches and Political Consultancy Center “Politicon”, for Info-Prim Neo. “To me it seems as a wise decision, which denotes the Government’s prompt reaction to what has happened in Balti”, Anatol Taranu mentioned. In his opinion, this is an attempt to remedy the situation through political methods. During this visit the Government will have the opportunity to observe local problems and try to interpret the objective reason behind the Communist councilors’ votes, and what is the political drive that was alluded or maybe even instigated from Chisinau, says Anatol Taranu. The analyst believes that the first part of the meeting should deal with the remedies, whereas the second one should give a political, perhaps even judicial, assessment of the situation. “It is good when the Government reacts swiftly in case of emerging tension point, since this is nothing but an attempt to tense the situation”, the analyst added. According to Taranu, the visit to Balti will, most likely, include talks with local elects. As a result, the situation will clear itself for everyone, but it also depends on Communist councilors’ further actions. The Premier announced that the Cabinet of Ministers’ next week meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 1, will take place in Balti, where on July 26 Municipal councilors from the PCRM group voted to hold a referendum on the extension of local autonomy in September. Prime Minister Vlad Filat requested the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS), the Prosecutor General’s, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to investigate this case, which he deems as a breach of the legal norm.
