Prime Minister Pavel Filip requested the National Bureau of Statistics to provide explanations over the population census taken at the beginning of 2014 during the next three days or its administration should resign, IPN reports.
At the beginning of the May 11 meeting of the Cabinet, the Premier expressed his dissatisfaction with the low quality of the inquiry into the delay in the publication of the census data and with the attitude of the Bureau’s administration to the tasks entrusted to it by the Government.
“I asked to conduct an internal inquiry at the National Bureau of Statistics on March 22. I raise today this issue because I was furnished with the results of this inquiry. I ascertained that it is a nice poem with carefully arranged words, but this inquiry is absolutely sterile as I can draw no conclusion from it. The approach is very and very superficial. No concrete proposal and no concrete result as a result of this inquiry,” stated Pavel Filip, adding that on April 1 he asked that the preliminary census results should be provided in a month, but he received nothing.
The Prime Minister also revealed other irregularities related to the census. “I was told that there is a margin of error in the census. I consulted specialists and was told that when a census is taken there are no margins of error in general,” he stated, saying the Bureau’s head Marin Gospodarenco should resign if he cannot present at least the preliminary census results.
Pavel Filip noted all the functionaries who have a superficial approach to their duties will be requested to resign.
