Local companies that generate electricity from renewable sources called on Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, who chairs the Commission for Exceptional Situations, to identify solutions to their problems that worsen daily. The producers said they risk going bankrupt. If measures are not taken, this sector will disappear over the next few months and more than 30 companies that invested over 1 billion lei in the business will become insolvent.
“We do understand why we cannot sell the electricity we produce to one supplier in a centralized way, for instance, to “Energocom”, which is a universal supplier. All the producers and primarily the end users in the Republic of Moldova will stand to gain as a result and the latter will enjoy a fair and non-discriminatory price. The decisions taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations without a profound analysis of the impact of these decisions on all the participants in the market, as we are many in number, brought us close to insolvency. The mechanism for calculating the imbalance – the charge of 0.97 lei per kilowatt - does not help us to cover at least the bank loans, not to mention the maintenance costs, VAT and taxes we need to pay,” Zinaida Plămădeală, the representative of a renewable energy company,” stated in a news conference hosted by IPN.
Lawyer Vitalie Malai, who represents a group of over 30 companies that produce electricity from renewable, wind power and photovoltaic sources, said that for 18 months already he has insisted on having a meeting with decision makers. The problems have worsened and the last changes to the normative framework will lead to the effective bankruptcy of these producers. The lawyer made reference to a number of decisions taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations by which the rules were modified.
“We call on Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, who is the chair of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, to have a meeting with us or we will be forced to stop producing electricity at the local level next week. We really do not understand why priority is given to electrical energy produced outside the country,” said the lawyer.
“We ask to be devoted attention and to be invited to a meeting so as not to allow an injustice with regard to the own citizens of the Republic of Moldova.”
