Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in a meeting with representatives of the Council of Nongovernmental Organizations of Moldova, said the Government must feel the pressure of civil society, which is a watchdog. He noted he supports the communication with civil society and the most efficient mechanisms and forms will be identified for this dialogue, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip said the requests made by the Civic Forum, the messages that came from the Government of Romania, the Unites States and from EU institutions correspond to the executive’s objectives.

“Our government program is based on the Association Agreement. We ascertained that many of the planned measures are overdue and decided to act swiftly so as to implement them. There are also pressing issues, including the elucidation of the theft of the US$1 billion, stabilization of the financial-banking sector, reformation of the justice sector and corruption fighting institutions,” said the Premier.

Representatives of the NGO Council welcomed the invitation to a dialogue and confirmed its readiness to delegate three persons to work on the National Participation Council. They asked the Government to become involved in solving the faced problems such as the amendment of the law on the transfer of 2% of the income tax to NGOs and the financing of volunteering.

According to the NGO sector, an institution should be set up to ensure the framework needed for a permanent and efficient dialogue between the Government and civil society.
