Prime Minister Pavel Filip suggested introducing a three-month moratorium on inspections carried out by state bodies controlled by the Government and on searches within contravention investigations. He put forward such a suggestion in the January 27 meeting of the executive, IPN reports.
“The State Main Tax Inspectorate, the Customs Service and the Economic Police are ill-intentioned towards the economic entities. The inspections are performed with serious abuses. The companies are subject to three-four inspections a week,” said the Premier.
According to him, some of the data confirm that large sums are paid as bribe. Only 5% of the cases stared by the Economic Police reach the court. “It’s not clear what happens to the others,” stated Pavel Filip.
He noted that the situation must be clarified and asked that the heads of the State Main Tax Inspectorate, the Customs Service and the Economic Police should be suspended from posts until then. He said that a telephone line will be set up for reporting abuses through it.
“I will wait for weekly reports about the calls made to the phone number that will be made public later,” said the Prime Minister.
The Government will lay down clear rules that will govern the activity of the given inspection bodies during the moratorium. The Ministry of Justice is to present the relevant normative framework within a week.
