Prime Minister Pavel Filip requested to immediately modify the law on waste and to work out a roadmap concerning waste management. The subject was discussed in a meeting that analyzed the actions that need to be taken to manage solid waste, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s press service.

The Premier noted this is one of the most pressing problems and the people are waiting for solutions to it. “We all went through the election campaign. I had no meeting where they people wouldn’t have asked about this problem. There are unauthorized waste dumps in each village. The people complain that waste is thrown everywhere. But we do not need to go to villages. We can simply travel on national roads and will see litter by the roadside,” stated Pavel Filip.

The Premier underlined that not the lack of money is the biggest constraint in dealing with this problem, but the absence of a national solid waste management program. “I’m sure that if a national solid waste management program had existed from the start, since the declaration of independence, as in many other countries, we wouldn’t have spoken about this problem now,” he noted.

Pavel Filip asked to propose amendments to the law on waste as soon as possible and to design a roadmap concerning solid waste management with all the stages that will be covered for definitely solving this problem.
