Prime Minister Pavel Filip instructed the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health to swiftly submit the draft documents concerning the institution of the Single National Emergency Call System 112, IPN reports.

Pavel Filip said that important steps have been taken so far to create the given system so as to provide real support for the people. He reiterated that four services will be called by dialing one number: the police, the firefighters, the emergency medical assistance service and the gas service. The nonstop service that can be called in cases of danger to life and health, public order and property is very popular in the EU member states. The system identifies the telephone number of the caller and sends the data to the competent institutions.

The single number 112 is called only when emergency assistance is needed from specialized agencies.

The Premier also spoke about the necessity of reducing and preventing crime rate in our country. “The people need to see that there is police that really protect and can be trusted,” stated Pavel Filip referring to the grenade attack on the house of the National Bank governor. He requested that this case should be examined with maximum responsibility and professionalism so that those who threw the grenade and those who ordered the attack are identified.
