Lithuania is a close partner of Moldova in such areas as promotion of democracy, fighting of hybrid threats and the European integration, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said at a meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Ingrida Šimonytė. The interlocutors discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and projects carried out for the benefit of the citizens of the two countries, IPN reports.

Dorin Recean welcomed the augmentation of bilateral trade, noting that Lithuanian investors enjoy a hospitable business environment in Moldova. He urged other businesspeople to invest in Moldova. “The Government is building European Moldova and is firmly stepping on the path of integration into the community space. At the same time, we stand by Ukraine in its fight for freedom and territorial integrity. We continue to strengthen our relations with strategic partners, such as Lithuania,” said the Prime Minister.

Dorin Recean also had a meeting with the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen. He approved of the parliamentary cooperation between the two states and the support provided by the Lithuanian side in key sectors for Moldova’s modernization. “Lithuania is a faithful supporter of the Republic of Moldova’s reform and European integration process, and our cooperation is increasingly close in various fields, such as economy and security, including information security,” said the Moldovan official.

The interlocutors conferred on Lithuania’s experience in strengthening the country’s energy independence, with a focus on the development of green and renewable energy. They also referred to opportunities to boost economic cooperation and interest of Lithuanian companies to invest in Moldova.

Premier Recean also visited the Dacia Romanian Language and Culture Association, which gathers together members of the Moldovan and Romanian diaspora. The Association celebrated 35 years of its founding, a period during which the Moldovan citizens continued to promote national culture and traditions in Vilnius. On this occasion, the Moldovan official offered them a tricolor.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean is paying a working visit to the capital of Lithuania, where he is taking part in the ninth Three Seas Summit.
