Premier promises to monitor distribution of humanitarian aid

Prime Minister Vlad Filat instructed officials of the Government to strictly monitor how the humanitarian aid provided to Moldova is distributed and ensure transparency in this process. He gave the instructions after he had a meeting with the representative of the Dutch NGO “Save the Street Children” Cornelis Haisman. The discussions centered on the efficient use of the humanitarian aid offered by NGOs to Moldovan social institutions and organizations, Info-Prim Neo reports. Cornelis Haisman said the Dutch NGO “Save the Street Children” was founded 35 years ago. It started work in Moldova in 2000 and aims to help all the socially deprived groups of people by donations of building materials, clothes, furniture, sports gear, medical equipment, etc. Dina Rosca, the head of the organization's representative office in Moldova, said the NGO plans to implement a project to build a pool for children with disabilities in Chisinau at a cost of 2 million lei and to reconstruct the old people's homes in Chisinau and in Sarateni village of Telenesti district. It will also donate medical equipment to the value of 3 million lei to the Ministry of Health. Vlad Filat assured that the government will take measures to ensure conditions for the transparent implementation of these and other projects. “We will take care that the donations get to the people,” he said.
