Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici presented the accomplishments and priorities of the Cabinet after the first 100 days in office. He said that he had to deal with many challenges, but is aware that he is yet to face the biggest challenges, IPN reports.
“I realize that the future of this country depends on the actions taken by the Government I head. It is a Government that works based on the interests of all the people of Moldova, regardless of age, ethnicity or political beliefs. Our interest, of everyone, is to live decently and happily in a prosperous and modern country, in a better country,” stated Chiril Gaburici.
He noted that among the Government’s accomplishments during 100 days is the approval of the Law on the Prosecution Service, the initiation of the creation of an institution that will deal with the confiscation of public servants’ property obtained unjustly, the resumption of the dialogue with Tiraspol, the increase in the number of compensated drugs and in the size of pensions, and the equipment of a number of schools with the money provided by the Government of Japan.
The fight against corruption is a priority for the Government. “I think this is the main problem faced by the country. As Prime Minister, I would like to have more instruments for fighting corruption, but we also should not forget about the separation of powers in the state. I will request all the governmental institutions to step up the efforts to fight corruption. If need be, the Government will assume responsibility, as it did in the case of the budget law,” said Chiril Gaburici.
He added that met with bureaucracy and resistance on the part of the system. About 30% of the personnel of the governmental institutions are chiefs who want things to remain as they are. Chiril Gaburici noted he will not tolerate something like this and will seek resignations.
