The Tiraspol authorities have launched debates on a constitutional amendment bill which seeks to liquidate the post of Vice President and create the post of Prime Minister of the unrecognized republic, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a statement published on the website of the Supreme Soviet, the region's legislature, the liquidation of the post of vice president is proposed as a measure to avoid the doubling of responsibilities after the creation of the PM's post. Under the current law of the separatist region, the vice president is elected together with the president for a 5-year term. Following the amendment, the prime minister would be appointed by the legislature on the proposal of the president, who would be able to discharge the prime minister and dissolve the executive. The group for the constitutional review worked on the bill during one year. The authorities of the unrecognized republic explained the move was in line with their endeavor to model their laws on the Russian legislation.
