Prime Minister Pavel Filip calls on the population to refrain from travelling on the occasion of Low Sunday given that the bad weather will yet persist. The Premier ordered that the schools, kindergartens and hospitals should be connected to the heat supply and that measures should be taken to reconnect the disconnected communities to the power supply, IPN reports.
“We need a more precise assessment of the extent of the caused damage and this implies good organization at the local level. Based on these assessments, we will be able to take measures to compensate the agricultural producers for a part of the losses,” stated Pavel Filip.
He noted he instructed the Ministry of Environment, together with the local public authorities, to monitor the level of water in rivers and lakes and to take measures to prevent possible floods.
