The energy security-related problems faced by Moldova will disappear in two years, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

According to the head of Government, in this period of time Romania will build two more compressor stations for the Romanian gas to reach Chisinau. “Wee will be then able to negotiate with Russia and to choose what’s most suitable for Moldova,” stated Iurie Leanca.

Speaking about the statements of his Ukrainian counterpart Areseniy Yatsenyuk, concerning the possible halt in gas exports to Europe by Russia, the Premier said these assertions are rather fuelled by the war between Russia and Ukraine and the danger that Yatsenyuk’s forecasts will come true is minimal. However, the Government is taking into account the more pessimistic scenarios and allocated 100 million lei for increasing the crude oil reserves.

Iurie Leanca also said that more measures to supply the country with energy resources in winter were taken and in at most two years he will be able to provide clearer answers as regards the ensuring of the country’s energy security.
