Premier met with Grigory Karasin

The relations between Moldova and Russia and the prospects of developing these were discussed in a meeting of Prime Minister Pavel Filip and the Secretary of State Grigory Karasin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, who is in Moldova on a visit, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the two officials conferred on the bilateral agenda and expressed their readiness to continue and foster the Moldova-Russian contacts in different areas of cooperation.

Pavel Filip said that Moldova is for developing the Moldovan-Russian partnership based on mutual respect and confidence and for intensifying the bilateral economic cooperation and trade. In this connection, the Premier raised the issues of labor force migration and social protection of the Moldovans working in Russia.

For his part, Grigory Karasin noted the visits paid recently by high-ranking officials and those planned for the immediate period and the decision to restore the joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, reiterating his country’s readiness to strengthen the bilateral dialogue and to develop the cooperation relations with Moldova in different areas.

The interlocutors also discussed the Transnistria issue, underlining the importance of promoting the negotiations in the 5+2 and other formats for ensuring an efficient process of solving the problems faced by the people from both sides of the Nistru. They also stressed the necessity of intensifying the cultural and humanitarian relations by implementing joint projects.

Also today, March 29, Grigory Karasin had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Galbur. The officials noted the necessity of strengthening the bilateral dialogue and cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian area and of continuing the discussions at the level of co-chairpersons of the joint intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation.
