Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the problem of raider attacks on the banks and other commercial organizations has not been definitively solved. “The measures taken were aimed at giving the state institutions the tools needed to intervene swiftly and this objective was mainly achieved. But we expect the judiciary to respect the law and approve legal, not opportunist decisions. I do not want to generalize, but the state of affairs shows we encounter problems in this respect. It is good that the justice reform strategy was approved and will be sent to Parliament for adoption. But during the implementation process, special emphasis should be put on making the persons working in this area more responsible so that the law is observed,” the Premier said in the September 6 meeting of the Cabinet, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. In this connection, the Premier instructed the Ministry of Justice to immediately draft an anti-raid bill based on the experience of other countries that faced similar problems. He suggested that the bill should lay down appropriate penalties as it is a matter of national security, not only an attempt to ensure the security of bank and company shareholders.
