“The European integration will represent the basis of the work of the Government I head, with the continuation of reforms being a top priority,” Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici said in a meeting with the Chairman of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok in Brussels, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the Government.
The Premier and the European official discussed the process of implementing the reforms undertaken within Moldova’s European course. Chiril Gaburici said special attention will be paid to the justice sector reform, the fight against corruption, the ensuring of sustainable economic growth and the improvement of management in the banking system. For his part, Elmar Brok said Moldova is a strategic country. “Moldova goes through a difficult process of transformations. It is important to ensure economic and political stability and to keep the European course,” he stated.
This morning, Chiril Gaburici also discussed with MEP Andi Cristea, who heads the EU - Moldova Delegation of the European Parliament. “Brussels is very interested in continuing reforms. This means respecting the legitimate European aspirations of the Moldovan people. We want Moldova to enjoy stability. The rest comes from the energy and resolve of Chisinau,” stated the MEP.
Chiril Gaburici noted that the Government banks on the personal support of Andi Cristea, while the experience accumulated by the countries that joined the EU in 2004 and 2007 is very valuable to Moldova.
In the meeting with Giovanni Pittela, who heads the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, the Premier said that Moldova will fulfill the commitments assumed within the Association Agreement with the EU.
Chiril Gaburici is paying his first official visit to Brussels on February 26 – 27.
