Premier Filip meets with Ukrainian and Georgian counterparts

Prime Minister Pavel Filip discussed the fostering of bilateral partnerships in separate meetings with his Ukrainian and Georgian counterparts. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the meeting of heads of Government of the member states of the GUAM Organization for Democracy and Economic Development, IPN reports.

With the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymir Groysman, Pavel Filip discussed the reciprocal recognition of ownership rights, completion of the state border demarcation process and setting of conditions for exploiting the Nistrean Hydroenergy Complex. The Moldovan Premier underlined the importance of the cooperation between the sides in ensuring the protection of the ecosystem of the Nistru River. For the purpose, a joint approach is to be made to the European Commission to ask for assistance in identifying mutually advantageous solutions concerning the exploitation of the Nistru River.

The Premiers also discussed the coordination of actions for initiating joint control at customs posts, including at the border crossing points Cuciurgan-Pervomaisk and Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe, and the opening of the bridge between Unguri and Bronita villages for vehicle traffic.

In the meeting with his Georgian counterpart Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Pavel Filip welcomed the completion of the process of liberalizing the visa regime with the EU for the citizens of Georgia, noting that this is a step forwards in the European integration process. He emphasized the good cooperation between Moldova and Georgia in the field of European integration and the importance of ensuring exchange of experience, especially by cooperating within the Eastern Partnership and while implementing the DCFTA with the EU.

The Prime Ministers underlined the importance of developing the political dialogue that is also aimed at intensifying the commercial relations, noting in this connection the preparations for the meeting of the Moldovan-Georgian intergovernmental commission for commercial-economic cooperation that will take place in Tbilisi during April 27-28.
