Prime Minister Pavel Filip met with the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during his official visit to Kyiv. The Premier said that this meeting is a good occasion for setting new objectives for developing bilateral cooperation in different areas by continuing the previous dialogue, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
“We are ready to continue to closely cooperate so as to move on swiftly in the direction of European integration, which is the common option of our countries and peoples,” said Pavel Filip.
As to the Transnistrian issue, the Premier stated that regional solidarity in such issues is very important and the Moldovan authorities count on Ukraine’s support in encouraging equitable discussions. “It is important for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to be equal partners in ensuring the observance of the international law norms and to support each other in promoting sovereignty and territorial integrity” he said.
President Petro Poroshenko said Ukraine supports Moldova in its efforts to settle the Transnistrian conflict by peaceful ways, in the interests of the people from both sides of the Nistru.
For his part, Pavel Filip said the Republic of Moldova supports the solving of the crisis in Donbas and Crimea by political and diplomatic ways and confirmed the Moldovan Government’s readiness to continue to offer the assistance needed to organize the vacation and rehabilitation of children affected by the armed conflict in the eastern regions of Ukraine.
The interlocutors also discussed the intensification of cooperation on the border, including by common checks at the border crossing points Cuchurgan-Pervomaisk, Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe and Giurgiulesti-Reni, opening of the bridge in Unguri-Bronita for traffic and passenger transportation, commercial-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation and the importance of the Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation at international level, including within the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the OSCE.
