Premier Filip in a dialog with local authorities of Gagauzia

While on a working visit to Comrat, Prime Minister Pavel Filip met with representatives of the Executive Committee of ATU Gagauzia, local councils and deconcentrated services and with mayors of the region. The Premier underlined the importance of keeping a constructive dialogue between the local and central authorities with a view to identifying concrete measures to solve the problems faced by the inhabitants of Gagauzia, IPN has learned from the Government’s press services.

Pavel Filip noted that the key objective of the government program is to ensure better living conditions for the people, referring to the reforms promoted by the Government in this regard. In particular, he spoke about the reform of the central public administration that started by reducing the number of ministries and governmental agencies. This will be followed by the local public administration reform and the territorial-administrative one.

“Our objective is to strengthen the public institutions so that the best, the most professional persons work for the state. This reform is the foundations based on which the Republic of Moldova should be further built and developed,” stated the Premier.

As to the cooperation between the executive and the local authorities of Gagauzia, the Prime Minister noted the dynamic dialogue between the sides, underlining the results obtained in achieving the objectives set in the special meeting of the Cabinet that was held in Comrat on March 4, 2016.

For her part, the Bashkan of Gagauzia Irina Vlah thanked for the assistance provided by the executive in modernizing the region, specifying that about 60% of the objectives defined in the action plan for ensuring the socioeconomic development of ATU Gagauzia for 2016-2019 have been achieved so far.

Among the discussed subjects were also the economic development of Gagauzia, the social services, attraction of investments and promotion of infrastructure projects.
