Prime Minister Pavel Filip on February 23 had a telephone conversation with the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The interlocutors discussed the inauguration of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau and the measures that need to be taken by the authorities to facilitate this process, IPN reports.

According to the executive’s press service, Pavel Filip said the Government will offer all the necessary support for facilitating the procedures for accrediting the head and personnel of the Office and for its proper functioning.

For his part, Jens Stoltenberg said the procedures for accrediting the head and personnel of the Office will be latched in March and the NATO Liaison Office is to be opened in June this year.

In this connection, Pavel Filip invited Jens Stoltenberg to pay a visit to Moldova to take part in the inauguration of the Office.

The agreement on the opening of the NATO Liaison Office in Chisinau was signed by Pavel Filip and Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels on November 29, 2016. President Igor Dodon is against the opening of this Office and pleads for the negotiation of an agreement on the recognition of Moldova’s neutrality with NATO.
