Prime Minister Ion Chicu said the current Parliament should be dissolved without delay. According to him, the responsible people of the current legislature remained in a minority, IPN reports.
“There was held the first sitting of Parliament. Populism is more serious than the virus and drought. The responsible people of the current legislature remained in a minority. This Parliament should be dissolved without delay,” the official posted on Facebook.
In the legislature’s first two sittings of current session on September 10 and 11, the MPs adopted a number of laws, including amendments to the 2020 state budget law that generated heated discussions in Parliament. After about 40 amendments were proposed, the MPs of the government majority accused the opposition of populism. For their part, the opposition MPs accused the government of formulating strictly electoral modifications.
Earlier, President Igor Dodon not only once said the current Parliament should be dissolved as it no longer reflects the results of the elections of February 2019. According to him, the first decree that the next President should sign should be on the dissolution of Parliament so that snap parliamentary elections could be held.
