Prime Minister Iurie Leanca is convinced that the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the European Union will be signed and ratified despite the existing obstacles and pressure. He made such statements in the program “Moldova Live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

“The regional situation is the most difficult in the last 20 years. But the European integration is our goal and I’m convinced that no MP of the government coalition will vote against the ratification of this accord, which would be against the national interests. I think even MPs from the opposition will vote in favor,” said Iurie Leanca.

He noted that the government is preoccupied with the preparation of the economy as the country should faster benefit from the opportunities offered by the accord with the EU. The national producers will be trained to meet the European quality standards.

As to the relations with Russia, the Premier said that the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU does not prevent Chisinau from having good relations with Moscow. He expressed his optimism that the planned visit by two high-ranking Russian officials to Chisinau will contribute to improving the relations with Russia. In Chisinau, the two officials are to sign two important agreements that refer to legal migration and to illegal migration. “I hope that these accords will help solve the problems faced by our co-nationals who work in Russia. It’s abnormal for at least seven Moldovans to be banned from entering Russia daily,” stated Iurie Leanca.

According to him, the recent visits made by U.S. and European officials to Moldova, besides contributing to an improved image of the country, brought considerable subsides and important projects will start to be implemented in Moldova soon to provide all the settlements with drinking water and to repair the roads.

The head of Government admitted that they didn’t manage to integrate the ethnic minorities into society and, as a result, the minorities do not recognize the Romanian language.
