Prime Minister Ion Chicu said his agenda does not include a visit to the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM). As to the invitation issued by the Council’s acting chairman Dorel Musteață in a news conference, he noted he is ready to discuss, but hasn’t yet received an invitation and learned about this from press reports, IPN reports.
“I didn’t receive an invitation. I learned about the meeting from press reports. I want to see what the representative of this independent state power wants to discuss. We will have discussions. There is the Ministry of Justice at governmental level, which should ensure communication with the SCM. I consider we will have a dialogue, but I don’t think it is appropriate to have such political moments when the Prime Minister goes to the meeting of the Council uninvited, as it happened on June 25, and tells the SCM what to do,” stated Premier Chicu.
On December 6, four members of the Superior Council of Magistracy led by acting chairman Dorel Musteață invited the President, Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister to discussions about the problems faced by the Council and the judicial system. He said he made a call to all the state powers given the existing impasse.
The meeting is to take place on December 10
