Half of the 35 deputies of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia were chosen in the first round of local legislative elections on November 20. The turnout of voters was 42.8%, which is 52,114 people, IPN reports.
According to the preliminary results, 17 deputies were elected to the local legislative body of Gagauzia. The others are to be chosen in the second round of voting in two weeks.
The elected deputies are: Grigorii Uzun, Ivan Arnaut, Valentin Gaidarji, Natalia Shosheva, Nicolae Uzun, Grigorii Cadyn, Ilie Uzun, Nicolae Dragan, Dmitri Monastyrly, Georghii Eftenii, Nicolae Ormanji, Sergei Zaharia, Dmitri Cebanov, Feodor Ianioglo, Vladimir Kissa, Vitalii Cebanu and Elena Caramit. Most of these represent the Party of Socialists.
The elections at polling places No.3 of Comrat, No.5 of Ceadar Lunga and No. 10 of Vulcanesti weren’t validated because the turnout there was lower than one third of the voters written on the electoral registers.
The elections to choose deputies on the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia were held in 35 uninominal constituencies. A number of 126 candidates ran for the 35 seats of deputy.
