The caravan of the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (PPRM) aimed at collecting signatures in favor of electing the President by direct vote continues its way. On June 27, the PPRM’s team will go Sangera and Bacioi, while on June 28 – to Ciorescu, and Cricova, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the party, representatives of the local organizations, the young members and the sympathizers of the PPRM go from door to door to enable all the Moldovans to put their signatures in favor of amending the Constitution so that their will is respected.

The political crisis of the last four years shows that Moldova needs a national, independent leader who will be the guarantor of the Constitution, considers the PPRM. “The country needs a President elected by the people. That’s why the People’s Party calls on the citizens of this country to sign in favor of amending the Constitution so that it allows for the direct election of the head of state,” said the party.

By the campaign “You elect the head of state”, the People’s Party took the first step towards the long-awaited change as only a President elected by the people can be a national leader and a guarantor of the Constitution, said the PPRM.

The campaign was launched on May 16. The PPRM put up tents where signatures are collected in four districts of the country – Anenii Noi, Criuleni, Sangerei, and Ocnita. The people are expected to go there daily, between 9am and 6pm.
