Supporters of the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN) on December 14 mounted a protest at the residence of the head of state. Led by the party’s chairman Renato Usatyi, the protesters demanded that Nicolae Timofti should resign IPN reports.
The protesters set off from the tent town “Moldova’s Town”, which was set up in front of the Parliament Building, and walked up to the President’s State Residence, chanting “Resignation!”, “Down with Timofti!” and “Timofti, go out!”.
“We want the head of state to resign because we can no longer endure this shame and the mass exodus from Moldova. If we today do not obtain Timofti’s resignation, we will be unable to hurry the procedure for announcing early parliamentary elections,” stated Renato Usatyi. According to him, Moldova is a captured state managed by a small group of people. “Now, one of the persons who controlled Timofti is in jail. But there are also others in power, such as Plahotniuc, Ghimpu and Voronin.”
The leader of the PPPN also said that he knows the reasons why a candidate for premiership hasn’t been yet nominated. “The Prime Minister is not elected for a simple reason: at this moment, according to trustworthy sources, the ‘theft of the century 2’ is being planned. I don’t know if it will be a new billion or a half a billion stolen, but they want again to steal something in Moldova. Afterward they will go out before the people and will say: We knew nothing and we didn’t have a Premier in these hard moments. It was only Brega, who held the post of Premier on an interim basis,” stated Renato Usatyi, adding he believes a candidate for Prime Minister will be fielded after December 20 or on the New Year’s Eve, when the people will be unable to protest.
On December 13, the supporters of the PPPN staged also a protest at the President’s residence in Condrita.
