The Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPDM) states its support for the protest scheduled by civil society for May 14, against the modification of the electoral system. In a statement presented in a news conference at IPN, representatives of the party say they subscribe to the civil society’s initiative to stop the establishment of the dictatorship of an obscure and malefic person in the Republic of Moldova.

“The Republic of Moldova is currently in the biggest danger since the proclamation of its independence, and this despite the huge financial assistance provided by the European Union, the IMF and the World Bank to promote democracy, the rule of law, respect for the human rights, political pluralism and pluralism of opinions, good governance, sustainable development and poverty reduction,” said PPPDA leader Andrei Nastase, reading from the statement.

Andrei Nastase noted that unimaginable political lawlessness was witnessed in Parliament on May 5. “The so-called parliamentary alliance controlled by oligarch Plahotniuc, together with the purported pro-Eastern Socialist opposition, adopted in the first reading a bill to change the electoral system so as to liquidate the last islands of democracy in the Republic of Moldova,” stated the leader of the PPPDA.

“It is evident that the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo resorted to the modification of the Electoral Code defying all the legislative procedures and opinions of non-governmental organizations specialized in the electoral process, of political parties of the anti-oligarchic opposition and of the main parties represented in the European Parliament,” said Andrei Nastase, calling on the people to take part in the protest set to take place in central Chisinau this Sunday.

The party’s deputy head Kirill Motpan addressed the Moldovans abroad, calling on them to unite, to come together in authorized places and to make themselves heard in the countries of residence.

University professor Sergiu Cataranciuc called upon the teachers, who have struggled to obtain salary raises for four years, to take to the streets on May 14.

The farmers, pensioners and young people were also invited to the protest that starts at midday.
