The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) intends to engage the members of the diaspora in the building of a strong, sustainable and stable economy in Moldova and in the restoration, maintaining and developing contacts between the diaspora and the country’s population so as to promote the cultural value of the spiritual ties and development of the feeling of affiliation. Another objective is to involve the diaspora in the country’s political life by ensuring active participation and creating an appropriate environment for reunifying the diaspora in the country of origin and the country of destination. The commitments concerning the diaspora were presented by PPPDA candidate Iana Stantieru in a news conference, IPN reports.

Iana Stantieru
noted that the party aims to launch the PARE 1+2 program, to ensure transfers of remittances using modern technologies and avoiding double taxation and to support the formation of business networks in the diaspora by trade fairs and high-level business meetings.

As to the second objective, Iana Stantieru said that Romanian language and culture courses should be staged for the generations born and brought up outside the country and a diaspora-backed fund managed transparently and fairly to support the national cultural heritage should be created. A national platform for the diaspora should be designed to support the involvement of networks and associations of the diaspora, to organize regular meetings with representatives of these and to promote the arts and artists of the Republic of Moldova.

To achieve the third objective, Iana Stantieru said representatives of the diaspora should be present in Moldova’s Parliament. This is possible by allotting a number of seats to the diaspora. Among other intentions are to hold parliamentary hearings on issues related to the diaspora and to introduce electronic and postal voting, plus two-three days of voting for the diaspora.

The party aims to digitize the consular services, to reduce the prices of documents requested by Moldovans who are abroad and to ensure favorable working conditions abroad by signing bilateral agreements with countries that are host to Moldovan citizens.

PPPDA vice president Igor Munteanu spoke about the Moldovan diaspora in the U.S. and Canada, which he knew well also when he served as Moldova’s Ambassador in these states, noting that our expats play a very important role as they are present everywhere in the world.

The event involved a number of citizens who related their life experience abroad and called on the diaspora to vote for PPPDA.
