The Government malevolently manages the most sensitive and important socioeconomic areas, in particular rural development, agriculture and entrepreneurship, president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) Andrei Năstase stated in a news conference. He noted the PPPDA insists on the introduction of more drastic conditions regarding the period of validity of imported products, but the Socialists, assisted by their political allies, adopted a set of rules for the import of agri-food products that are to the detriment of national producers and favor importing companies.

Andrei Năstase accuses the Party of Socialists of blocking in Parliament, by order of Dodon, legislative proposals that facilitate national suppliers’ access to supermarket chains.

“The Government also showed obtuse or intentional incapacity to manage the vertiginous fall in world crude oil prices. The prices of gasoline and diesel fuel in the Republic of Moldova should have decreased by over 2 lei already, but they were reduced by 0.90 lei only,” stated the politician.

Andrei Năstase reminded that the PPPDA registered a legislative proposal to increase the Agriculture and Rural Development Fund to 3% of the budget expenditure. They will also insist on the capping of retail revenue in relation to producers and suppliers of goods.

The politician noted that the party will reintroduce the legislative proposal to institute a moratorium on state inspections at SMEs and will demand that the Competition Council and the National Agency for Energy Regulation should intervene in the process of forming fuel prices so that the business entities and citizens pay the real prices of fuel products. The PPPDA will oppose raising the VAT on agricultural products and sugar as an eventual rise will determine the bankruptcy of hundreds of farmers and will cause major price rises that will affect the entire population of the Republic of Moldova.
