The candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) for mayor of Chisinau Andrei Nastase promises he will increase the salary fund for preschool, primary and secondary education teachers and managers by 45 million lei and will adjust it annually to the rate of inflation as of 2019. In his electoral program, the PPPDA candidate stipulates such goals as to increase capital investments in the education system and to allocate funds depending on the set priorities.
Among the priorities, Andrei Nastase mentioned the opening of new kindergartens and groups for ensuring a place for each child at nursery schools. He intends to persuade business entities that erect new residential quarters to invest in educational infrastructure alongside the City Hall and to facilitate the opening of private kindergartens.
Another objective is to further simplify the process of enrolment at kindergartens by eliminating the discretionary norms that allow for abuses on the part of functionaries. The candidate also promises to set a minimum financing volume for education from the total revenues of the City Hall, of at least 20% starting with next year, by excluding the transfers.
Andrei Nastase said he will launch a realistic, but ambitious program to renovate the education institutions and to outfit the classrooms and sportsgrounds with modern equipment. He will make effort to ensure a comparable quality level at all the education institutions so that, regardless of the institution where the child studies, this benefits from similar services.
The candidate intends to take measures to improve academic performance at the schools that face problems by additionally equipping them and by increasing the motivation and retention of the staff. The capacities of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport will be strengthened so that this could perform its main duties and could ensure the student’s access to high-quality education and solve the issue of school dropout.
