Members and sympathizers of the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) on October 7 picketed the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of the Interior, the Security and Intelligence Service and the Central Election Commission, asking that they should urgently investigate a case of distribution of leaflets by which, according to them, the image of the party’s candidate for President Andrei Nastase is damaged. These consider that the Democratic Party is behind this action, IPN reports.
One of the leaders of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” Vasile Nastase said the leaflet contains information that denigrates Andrei Nastase and the Platform. There is also presented an image showing Andrei Nastase near Valery Klimenko (the leader of honor of Shor Party, e.n.), suggesting that the two are connected. Vasile Nastase explained that Andrei Nastase came across Valery Klimenko when he was entering a building to meet with the PACE delegation that came to inform itself about the developments in Moldova from electoral viewpoint. Klimenko was going out and the meeting lasted for a second.
According to Vasile Nastase, the leaflet says that Andrei Nastase owns a house in Germany, but this is not true. Andrei Nastase declared officially that he does not own such property and if evidence is provided to show that this is true, he will withdraw.
PPPDA deputy head Chiril Motpan said that according to their information, such leaflets are disseminated practically all over the country, at night, by individuals who travel by cars without license plates.
“We know that you are at someone’s beck and call, but take measures at least now to show to the people who produced these flyers. It is not hard for you to identify these persons,” PPPDA deputy head Liviu Vovc chanted before the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said they received the application by which the PPPDA asks to hold accountable the persons who violated the electoral legislation and remitted it for examination to the General Police Inspectorate, a copy being also sent to the CEC for the application to be examined together with other similar requests.
Earlier today, the Democratic Party of Moldova submitted a complaint to the Central Election Commission against Andrei Nastase. It accuses the representatives of Andrei Nastase of distributing brochures that denigrate the Democrats and the party’s first deputy chairman Vlad Plahotniuc with the aim of spoiling the image of the Democratic candidate Marian Lupu in the campaign prior to the presidential elections.
