The European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) will vote for no candidate for premiership. Such a decision was announced after the January 15 meeting of the party’s Political Council by the PPEM leader Iurie Leanca. This told the press that the early elections are the only solution for restoring the legality of the political process, IPN reports.
“The political class of the Republic of Moldova discredited itself. We consider the early elections are the only method by which the legality of the political process in Moldova can be restored. We will not take part in these political games that have no useful effect on Moldovan society,” stated Iurie Leanca.
The leader of the PPEM considers the nomination of Ion Paduraru for premiership is a theoretical exercise that has nothing to do with the real situation and the people’s expectations and this fact is deduced from the way in which this candidate was proposed and from the absence of a majority to support him.
“The PPEM pleads for maintaining the situation strictly within the legal limits. We disapprove of any pressure on the part of a state institution or political players. We support the civic activism of the people who are not indifferent to the situation in the country and to the country’s future. We consider it is as important for the healthy pro-European, pro-reform and pro-modernity forces to strengthen their positions and to have a more efficient communication,” said Iurie Leanca.
He also said that the party’s Political Council thoroughly examined the political situation in the country and the party’s members reached the conclusion that the parties that ruled in 2015 are to blame for the current profound economic, social and political crisis.
