The European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) said it gives its support to the candidate for mayor of Chisinau of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase for the runoff vote, IPN reports.
On a social networking site, the leader of the PPEM Iurie Leanca wrote that the party he represents didn’t field a candidate for mayor general of Chisinau municipality so as not to fragment the pro-European right. “After the first round of voting, we remain consistent in our positions. In order to prevent forces that are hostile to the European course of the Republic from taking over the capital city, we decided that our team will support candidate Andrei Nastase,” wrote Iurie Leanca.
The runoff for the mayoralty of Chisinau will be held on June 3.
