The electricity systems of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will work together in a regime of isolation from the neighboring energy systems. “The isolated functioning in this period is aimed at determining the power system’s capacity to work safely according to normal parameters and to react immediately to the variation of these parameters in winter regime functioning conditions,” the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development has said, being quoted by IPN.

The February test is the first stage of the synchronous interconnection of the electrical energy systems of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine with the ENTSO-E Continental Europe network A similar exercise was planned in summer functioning regime. “The tests form part of the action plan that is described in detail in studies concerning the synchronous interconnection of the electrical energy systems of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine with ENTSO-E that were recently finalized and that proved the technical feasibility of the interconnection,“ said the quoted source.

The technical maneuvers commissioned by the dispatcher’s office of NPC Ukrenergo involve the power plants of Ukraine. The transmission system operator ÎS “Moldelectrica” will follow the electricity quality parameters in the responsible area in the Republic of Moldova.

The power consumers will continue to be supplied with electricity uninterruptedly. “The disconnection from the neighboring electrical energy systems and subsequent synchronization with these will not be felt by the end users of electricity,” said the Ministry.
