Starting January 15, power outages in the Transnistrian region will begin one hour earlier. The three intervals, each lasting five hours, will now occur between 07:00-12:00, 12:00-17:00, and 17:00-22:00.

“In the morning, the network experiences peak load. The daily drop in temperature leads to increased electricity consumption, but the production volume remains unchanged. Adjusting the disconnection times will allow for a more even distribution of energy and help maintain network capacity”, explained the so-called government in Tiraspol.

Electricity for the left bank continues to be supplied by MGRES, which operates on coal. The Tiraspol administration has imposed daily five-hour power outages, citing network overload. Since Russian gas supplies were cut off, over 51,000 households in the Transnistrian region have been left without gas, and nearly 1,500 apartment buildings are without heating or hot water.

Former Energy Minister Victor Parlicov considers the current power outages in the region to be an artificial issue. He argues that the left bank has the capacity to produce the necessary energy volumes. Nevertheless, the disconnections are carried out artificially, even though the de facto administration is well aware that locals have no alternative sources of heating. According to the former minister, the only plausible explanation for this behavior is that the so-called authorities in Tiraspol view the situation as part of a predetermined scenario. They aim to create the illusion of a humanitarian crisis—portraying people as freezing and suffering—so that Russia can step in as a savior, disregarding the fact that Gazprom created this crisis in the first place.
