The authorities in Tiraspol have drawn up a program of disconnections from the electricity grids in the context of the energy crisis. The director of the Unified Electricity Distribution Network, Vasilii Sirbu, announced the plan for planned disconnections at peak hours between 16:00 and 22:00, as the supply of natural gas to the Transnistrian region will be reduced or even stopped, IPN reports, referring to the Transnistrian press, which does not specify the date of the disconnections.

The power cuts will also occur if people, contrary to warnings, turn on several electrical appliances at the same time, Sarbu said.

"We expect overloads on power lines. In this regard, emergency reserves for this year are being reinforced. Additional teams will be organized to deal with accidents on the electricity grid", Vasilii Sarbu added.

Yesterday Tiraspol imposed a state of emergency in the economy for a month. The so-called Supreme Soviet on the left bank of the Dniester River approved the "order" of Tiraspol administration leader Vadim Krasnoselski and justified the decision with the risks of cessation or reduction of gas supplies to the Transnistrian region from January 1, 2025.

Krasnoselski's "order" states that in the event of a negative scenario in the energy sector, a set of measures must be developed and implemented in advance. These include rationalization of natural gas consumption, the creation of a state reserve of energy resources, a ban on the export of energy resources except electricity. The exception applies as long as gas supplies to the region are secured.
