An exhibition of pictures taken immediately after the terrorist acts committed in the U.S. on September 11, 2001 and during the reconstruction of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York was opened at the American. Resource Center in Chisinau to mark ten years of the tragedy, Info-Prim Neo reports. U.S. Embassy Charge d’Affaires Marcus Micheli said the exhibit is in fact about power, resilience and the recovery from the tragic events that happened ten years ago. “Indeed it was a very tragic event and evidently we are overwhelmed when we look at these photos,” he stated. According to Marcus Micheli, the exhibition is also an impulse to look towards the future, attain objectives, remember what we achieved and think about the partnerships established with the whole world in order to counteract terrorism as the tragedy of 2001 actually affected not only the U.S. nation, but also many other countries. I want again to thank the Moldovan people for the support,” he said. Deputy Minister of Culture Gheorghe Postica said the exhibition is necessary for everyone because it commemorates a tragic event witnessed by practically everyone through TV. “We were witnesses to a nightmare. I think everyone must remember the September 11 terrorist acts as they mark the beginning of a new stage,” he said. Daniela Munca, a representative of the Community of Alumni of the U.S. Government-Sponsored Exchange Programs, said all the Moldovans who were in the U.S. then were directly affected by those events. According to the organizers, the exhibit will continue until the end of September and can be visited on workdays from 10 am until 5pm. A number of 2,996 persons from 90 countries died in the September 11 attacks.
