A specialized poultry market opened on Monday, May 15, in Chisinau. The market, working temporary, is situated on Hancesti blvd 86 and has a capacity of about 50 places. Capital’s deputy mayor Petru Svet announced, at the operative meeting of the mayoralty, that the price per place varies between 50 and 60 lei, depending on trucks’ capacity. This morning, at 8:00 AM businessmen with licenses brought on the territory of the market 8 trucks, and around the market, early in the morning, the dealers were already waiting, their access being forbidden. Deputy mayor Svet required police involvement in order to ensure the order around the market, and Veterinary Service – in order to make the necessary controls to exclude bird flu cases. In order to prevent the illness of domestic birds, businessmen have to respect certain conditions, about which they were informed last week at a special meeting. The poultry market on Hancesti blvd will work temporary, till a specialized market is opened, schedualed for September. Selling alive birds around the Central Market was forbidden, on the wake of avian influenza cases in neighboring countries.
