Several types of dairy products and poultry meat produced in the Republic of Moldova have become 2-5% more expensive for a week. Poultry fillet from Floreni, the largest poultry meat producer, has become 104 lei for a kilogram in one of the largest chain stores, more than 5% more expensive than the old price, IPN reports with reference to Mold-street.
In the case of dairy products, for example, 30%-fat cream from JLC Group, the largest dairy producer, has come to cost 30.20 lei for a 300-gram package, 4.1% more than before.
Other dairy products of this producer have also increased by 2-4%.According to the cited source, the price hikes are taking place against the background of an increase of about 33% in natural gas tariffs from December 1, 2024, and an increase of about 50% in heating tariffs and more than 70% in regulated electricity prices from January 10, 2025. Consequently, the production costs for producers have increased.
Another factor is the need to increase employees' wages, in the context of the 10% increase in the minimum wage in the economy from January 1, 2025.
