Potential candidates for the office of Chisinau mayor, or their representatives expressed their first electoral ideas at the Press Club held on Thursday, April 5.
One of the candidates, Eduard Musuc, the leader of the Social Democrat Party said that the party he represents will enter the0 election campaign under the slogan “For Justice, for People”.
Ion Mereuta, the leader of the Humanist Party said that there are many politicians in Moldova who make politics only for the sake of the politics, while HPM comes with professionals who can prove something. HPM will organise an election campaign based on honour and responsibility, free from calumny and insults, he added.
The candidate of the Social Liberal Party, Cornel Ciurea hopes that “the fortress of Chisinau is far from being invincible and can be conquered by the opposition, including SLP”. Ciurea said that he enters the elections with a team of professionals to settle main problems.
Deputy Chairman of the National Liberal Party Octavian Grama, the representative the party’s leader Vitalia Pavlicenco, who will run for mayor, said that NLP, which is the youngest party, enters the elections to assert itself and to test its forces.
Leader of Social Democracy Party Dumitru Braghis said that the party he represents will participate in elections not only in Chisinau, but in the entire country, because this is the only way to change the rpesent government.
Zinaida Zorin, who will run on behalf of the Conservative Party (CP), mentioned that not the office itself is attractive but the desire to change things in Chisinau. According to her, the CP has European ideas and in order to implement them, many things should be changed in Chisinau.
The candidate of the Democrat Party Vladimir Filat said that the party he represents will participate in elections not only in Chisinau, although he recognised that the office of Chisinau Mayor is very important for the party.
The Chairman of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu said that the candidacy of Dorin Chirtoaca brings the message that it is time to renew the present political class with young politicians.
The representative of “Moldova Noastra” Alliance Victor Osipov said that AMN did not choose yet the candidate for the office of Chisinau Mayor. In his words, several options are being examined, but a final decision will depend on the candidate of the Communist Party. MNA prepared long ago for these elections. The central electoral staff works for about one year, the future potential candidates were instructed, Osipov said, mentioning that he anticipates a campaign which will look like a “fight without rules”.
Local General Elections will take place on June 3, 2007.
