Potatoes, onion, white cabbage, carrots and beet will no longer be considered socially important low-margin products on which the profit margin is limited. Such a decision was taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations, IPN reports.

The Commission argued that the decision was taken in a move to avoid an eventual shortage of particular categories of products.

Last February, the Commission for Exceptional Situation extended the list of daily-demand goods so as to stop the unjustified rise in prices. The added products included potatoes, onion, white cabbage, carrots and beet.

The markup on low-margin products is less than 20%, while on bread it is less than 10%.
